SUSTAINABLE SONOMA UNITES SONOMA VALLEY'S EFFORTS TO IMPROVE OUR COMMUNITY UNDER ONE SET OF SHARED GOALS. THIS COMMON AGENDA WILL ALIGN AND SUPPORT ACTIVITIES THAT COLLECTIVELY BUILD A SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITY.

Sustainable Sonoma is a forum where a diverse group of Sonoma Valley leaders representing businesses, environment, social justice, nonprofits, and government take action on solutions to our community’s biggest challenges.

Sustainable Sonoma is currently focused on the issue of housing affordability, bringing the Sonoma Valley community’s different sectors to increase, improve and preserve housing that is affordable, for people who live or work in the Valley, within already developed areas, to create diverse safe, complete neighborhoods.

HIGHLIGHTS

Sonoma Valley suffers from a severe housing crisis that affects every aspect of our community. The future of our community is at stake.

All of Sonoma Valley is talking about our housing situation: why it’s a problem, and how we can fix it. To address these concerns, Sustainable Sonoma and the City of Sonoma are holding forums where locals can discuss and learn more about this important issue.

Thank you to our generous supporters, who helped us meet our $50,000 matching grant challenge! Our work would not be possible without you.

At 20 listening sessions since March this year, Sustainable Sonoma recorded over 1,600 comments about what Sonoma Valley residents and workers want for the future of their community. Thank you to all who participated!

Our Partners

Sustainable Sonoma is a platform for the diverse interests in Sonoma Valley to come to the table for the benefit of the community. Our core partners are working together to build a common agenda, shared measurement systems, mutually reinforcing activities, continuous communication, and backbone support for our partners.

What is a Sustainable community?

The elements of a sustainable community are a healthy environment, a strong economy and the well-being of the people living in the community. A sustainable community meets challenges through integrated solutions rather than through fragmented approaches that meet some goals at the expense of the others.
